Darnton EGS acted as Architects to develop the Search Engine, a project to improve storage and archiving facilities and access for research and public purposes at the National Railway Museum, York.
The project consists of reconfiguring existing collections spaces, reading rooms, research areas and public gallery to improve environmental conditions as well as access.
Specific environmentally controlled spaces were created for objects including glass negatives, paper storage, uniforms, tickets, paintings and rail memorabilia.
Related office and conferencing facilities were also developed.
